In longobard epoch, when it was subject to the Dukes of Lucca, the Val di Cornia made part of the King’s Waldo or Gualdo, as Pope Gregorio VII mentioned in one of his beads. The word Gualdo, from the Germanic Wald, means wooded extension and a delicious place reserved to the special use of the Lord, including the most beautiful things the Maremma offered. The firm has an extension of 45 hectares. The vineyards are situated to half hill, around 100 meters on the sea-level, on stony lands, clayey, to low fertility, that, together to the brightness and the microclimate, they make of Suvereto a niche to strong vocation for wines of great structure. The grapevine is cultivated traditionally, to Guyot and traditional spurred cord, with low position of gems per hectare. The plants density is of around 6.500 plants per hectare. There isn’t any irrigated practice, although the vineyards suffer a light summer drought. Its great wines have gotten important recognitions and they are appreciated by an international public. They complete the business activity the farm holidays centre and the tasting room.
